What is EagleVision®️ LASIK Surgery?
EagleVision®️ is the newest generation of LASIK surgery, developed at the Assil Gaur Eye Institute. After years of development by my colleague and renowned LASIK expert Dr. Kerry Assil, we believe it offers the best outcome of any LASIK technology available today.
This state-of-the-art fifth-generation LASIK technique was initially developed for Assil’s patients who are high contact professional athletes—which include Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Anthony Davis, Sugar Shane Mosley, Chris Paul, and Paul George (to name just a few).
We quickly found, however, that EagleVision®️ LASIK achieved superior results, not just for patients who engage in high contact sports, but for all of our patients.
EagleVision®️ (which stands for “Elliptical-flap Aberrometry Guided Laser Enhanced Vision”) has become our premium LASIK procedure.
How does the Eagle Vision LASIK procedure work?
The EagleVision®️ Protocol begins with careful measurements. The EagleVision®️ approach sub-divides the eye’s “seeing surface” into 1,240 adjacent zones. Each zone’s “glasses” prescription (refractive error) is measured using iDesign technology. It is the only FDA approved technology capable of performing such highly customized measurements for each individual eye.
The measurement of the refractive error in 1,240 separate zones is in stark contrast to measurements taken for producing eyeglasses and contact lenses, which only use a single averaged correction for all zones. In addition, the EagleVision®️ approach measures other optical imperfections (called “Higher Order Aberrations”) that can’t be corrected with glasses or contacts.
The cornea’s surface is then scanned to precisely measure the elevations and dips also known as “topography” of each of its 1,240 unique zones. These detailed 3-D Aberration and Elevation maps of each eye are then programmed into the excimer LASIK laser.
EagleVision®️ LASIK improves two key components of LASIK surgery:
1. Treatment plan customization
The EagleVision®️ protocol uses custom algorithms developed by Dr. Kerry Assil to further refine the laser’s surgical treatment program to account for patient age, lifestyle and eye shape. This allows us to give every eye the most personalized treatment program available anywhere.
2. Corneal flap customization
The EagleVision®️ corneal flap has been totally redesigned to be more ergonomic. It has been our experience that this not only provides safe access to a larger corneal treatment area, but also minimizes the risk of flap complications and post LASIK dry eye symptoms.
Who is the best candidate for this procedure?
Anyone over the age of 18, no eye health diseases, and thick enough cornea tissue with a stable glasses’ prescription.
How does this treatment compare to others of the same nature?
Several keys points give this procedure a step above the rest. The ergonomics flap design offers a larger treatment area, added protection against eye injury and quicker healing. EagleVision®️ achieves sharper post-op visual acuity than other LASIK technologies. There is a lower incidence of post-op Dry Eye findings. We achieve greater flap stability versus other LASIK surgeries, which is especially appreciated by those who engage in high contact activities. What does recovery look like?
The recovery is significantly easy and fast. Only downtime is the day of the procedure. Majority of patients are able to resume all activities the next day and vision results are achieved immediately as well!
