Eagle Vision LASIK
Eagle Vision® LASIK, the choice of LeBron James
Eagle Vision® LASIK laser eye surgery is the latest and most advanced LASIK surgery available. Developed at Assil Gaur Eye Institute, we believe it offers the best outcome of any LASIK technology.
Originally developed for high-contact professional athletes including Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Anthony Davis, Sugar Shane Mosley, Chris Paul, and Paul George, and more. They quickly found that Eagle Vision LASIK achieved superior results way beyond their expectations.
What are the advantages of the Eagle Vision LASIK Procedure?
It has been our experience that, compared to other LASIK procedures, EagleVision patients enjoy slightly:
- Better night vision
- Less halos and glare
- Crisper distance vision
- Less dry eye
- Faster vision recovery
These are just five ot the benefits made possible by the advanced Eagle Vision LASIK technology invented by Dr. Kerry Assil, which sets us apart.
What is different about Eagle Vision LASIK?
Some of the numerous Eagle Vision differences include:
- Our exclusive Ergonomic flap design offers a larger treatment area, added protection against eye injury, and quicker healing
- Patients report a sharper post-op visual acuity than with other LASIK technologies
- Lower incidence of post-op dry eye findings
- Greater flap stability versus other LASIK surgeries, the exceptional choice for anyone who participates in high-contact sports, jobs, or activities.

How does Eagle Vision LASIK Work?
Assil Gaur Eye Institute takes laser vision correction to the next level by customizing three key components of LASIK surgery:
1) Treatment Plan Customization
Your Eagle Vision LASIK experience at AGEI begins with a comprehensive eye exam to gather precise technical information about your eyes that will be used to guide your surgery.
For this step, we use iDesign, which takes 25 times more precise measurements than other vision measuring systems available today.
iDesign uses Wavefront technology developed by NASA to measure both inside and outside your eye, creating a unique optical fingerprint and a detailed 3-D map of your eye’s focusing capability. This data is then used to create a unique program that guides the laser in sculpting your cornea and correcting your vision.
The Eagle Vision™ approach further customizes the iDesign programs using algorithms developed by Dr. Assil that adjust for patient age, lifestyle, and eye shape. This allows us to optimize the laser’s ability to reshape your cornea with exquisite precision. No two eyes receive the same treatment because each eye is as unique as a fingerprint.
2) Corneal Flap Creation
The first step in LASIK surgery involves creating a thin flap from the outer layer of your cornea, which is then folded back to expose the underlying tissue for sculpting.
Although some LASIK surgeons still use an actual blade or outdated lasers to create the corneal flap, AGEI never does.
Assil Gaur Eye Institute uses only the state-of-the-art VISX Star S4 Excimer Laser System (the only FDA-approved Laser for individualized wavefront laser pulse delivery), coupled with the iFS (Femtosecond Laser), which delivers microscopic laser pulses just beneath the corneal surface to create a flap as thin as a strand of hair. This has been proven to provide far greater safety and precision than a blade or older lasers.
3) Corneal Flap Customization
Based on Dr. Assil’s experience, we have redesigned the corneal flap to be more ergonomic. Specifically, we’ve changed the flap shape from round to elliptical to align more with the eye’s natural shape. Also, we’ve moved the flap’s attachment point (the hinge) from the 12-noon position to the temple region.
This new flap design has resulted in the following advantages over traditional LASIK surgery:
- A larger working area that facilitates safer and more thorough corneal sculpting
- A much wider flap hinge (anchor) makes for a more stable and smoother flap surface
- More reliable flap healing because the hinge position is compatible with firm lid-squeezing forces (which travel in the ear-to-nose direction).
- Greater corneal strength and stability, so the post-op eye is less vulnerable to injury
- Fewer post-op dry eye side effects due to some preservation of delicate corneal nerves
Once the flap is created, your surgeon folds it back and uses gentle laser pulses to sculpt the exposed corneal tissue to correct your refractive error, according to your personalized treatment plan. The actual laser vision correction typically takes less than one minute per eye.
Once the corneal reshaping is complete, the flap is gently returned to its original position over the treatment area, where it serves as a natural bandage, helping your eye heal quickly. In most cases, you’ll begin to see more clearly right away. And after one day, most people’s vision is already 20/20, and they can return to their normal routine, with continued visual improvement in the following days and weeks.

Eagle Vision LASIK is offered exclusively at Assil Gaur Eye Institute
Dr. Assil has personally trained the surgeons at Assil Gaur Eye Institute and has the skill and experience to deliver the best outcomes available today. They have performed tens of thousands of these procedures, improving the quality of life of many happy southern Californians.
Why don't other ophthalmologists offer Eagle Vision LASIK?
The Eagle Vision surgery requires a very experienced surgeon and surgical team due to the extremely high level of customization and technology employed. Many do not have these abilities.
Eagle Vision LASIK also requires the integration of three refined technologies (Excimer Laser, Femtosecond laser, and iDesign) and the use of our proprietary patient-customized algorithm for surgical planning.
Assil Gaur Eye Institute is the only ophthalmology practice in greater Los Angeles with two surgical suites equipped with a VisxTM Star S4 Excimer laser, an Intralase iFS Femtosecond laser, and an iDesign Refractive Studio.
