The day I visited you were short-staffed (technicians), so the wait was longer. I didn't care much about it.
What I did care about was that doctor seemed to be in a rush, so I couldn't ask al the questions I wanted to ask and I didn't push it - will do next time, though.
I understand the business side of any hospital/medical care facility; devoting the necessary time to each patient to remove any shadow of a doubt is paramount, though.
In my profession, I have learned that even though some things are crystal clear/elementary to me, I must devote the right amount of time to explain it all to my client, and thoroughly.

Overall my experience was very good. I only had one issue. When there is a known delay it would be very helpful to receive a call or text letting me know my appointment time would be delayed. There was a delay in the morning which pushed the afternoon appointments by about an hour.

The wait times are horrible! This is my fifth survey and nothing has improved. Everyone's appointments are at 1pm, and we sit there for an hour before anyone is seen. A person can spend 2 hours in this office for a 10-minute follow-up appointment!

As the patient, I am the customer. However, the staff and doctor make me feel like a burden. They are too curt and without time. I never appreciate arriving at an appointment to wait an hour. It's disrespectful.
You guys do good work. That is why I go. But your general staff, medical and administrative, have some issues and it is obviously a firm culture thing, since it is pervasive to both Santa Monica and Beverly Hills.
So knowledge and actual work =10 while empathy, care, respect for others and being a human is more like a 4.

It would be nice if Dr. P took a little bit more time to walk me through and explain the future and what to expect with my eyesight. Like what is a good outcome what is bad outcome. What does success look like. What is a reasonable timeframe. What are the average time recovery rates for people in my age range with the same issue, hemorrhagic myoptic macular degeneration.

I was not happy about the young woman at the front desk. When Kimberly was there, she was so efficient and took my co-pay as soon as I arrived. Got me a receipt, etc. The last time I was there, the gal at the desk said she would call me to come back to the desk to give her my co-pay. Sje never did that, and I finally went back on my own and tried to pay, but she was on a break. Eventually, I went back a second time when I saw someone at the desk and was able to give my co-pay. Definitely, not efficient!

Advice to the company would be to let people know of their expected appointment of how long it will last. My last appointment lasted 1.5 hours, the appointment before that lasted 2.5 hours. My only “note” would be the waiting time before I am seen by a doctor . I make it a point to be on time . I can confidently say , I wait 20to 45 minutes to first be brought back , then wait to see the doctor . I appreciate an understand how much time each doctor gives us the patient . Dr. Assil and staff can do more education of patients in order to fully explain the limitations and potential side effects of cataract surgery. For instance, explain the potential side effects that are listed on the brochure for the panoptic lens.

I had a problem with the receptionist who has helped me in the past. I have told her a few times before that I don’t have to pay a co-pay and she has called the billing office which was supposed to have taken care of this long ago but I was asked again… to pay my co-pay which is covered. It was frustrating for me. 2 other staff had to help me take care of this problem which was ridiculous. When I go to the Santa Monica office this does not happen. Then when I tried to leave after the visit no one was at the desk and I had to get someone to make my future appointment.

I saw Dr Pilyugina on 6/2 for a pre-surgery visit (epi-retinal membrane). She went with me to have the surgery scheduled with Sharron. She explained that she would be on vacation the last 3 weeks of July. The goal was to schedule the surgery at least 2 weeks before her vacation so she would be available for 1 day and 1 week post-surgery visits. Otherwise the surgery would be done after her vacation. So far I haven't been advised of a surgery date.

I waited 1.5 hours before I went up to ask how long the wait would be. At 2 hours I asked where I was in the queue. I know it was during the later part of the afternoon, and I know people may have had long days, but it sounded like I was inconveniencing them for asking the question.

I have received Avastin shots for over 2 years. Following the shots I received in each eye, I had a different reaction. I saw nothing but a very bright white light. I could not see anything else. Needless to say this was very scary to me. The doctor had left the treatment room. When I told the assistant what was happening she said to me "it will get better with time, stay in the waiting room until it is better." I said, " I have to drive". She made no attempt to help me get to the waiting room. I struggled to find my way to the waiting room. I sat down, waited until my vision was a little bit better and then walked to my car.
I really would have appreciated some concern on the part of the assistant. I think she should have contacted Dr. P and told her about my reaction. As I said, this has never happened to me in over 2 years. I am a referral patient as I am visiting CA for 6 weeks. I'm not referring to Dr. P, but the assistant in the treatment room. She seemed to me to have no concern other than to say "it will get better." No help to me at all.
I think you should know about my appointment and concerns. Very strange indeed.

Your office advertises laser treatment for floaters, but it happens that the new floaters were sheets of visual field blockage, not just multiple spots and strings, as I've had for years. Dr. P was hesitant at first, but she heard me. Thank you... Having my vision restored in my left eye has made such a difference in my daily activities, and enhanced the quality of my life.
