A caring human in the office squeezed me in with Dr. Guar in BH between a surgery and a photo shoot and at the end of the day, on an emergency basis - and still she took her time, was calm and thorough, and never made me feel like I was an inconvenience. She was reassuring and detailed. Whether in the Santa Monica office or in Beverly Hills, the staff is welcoming and they put you at ease. This is rare in medicine these days. It's very stressful sitting in the waiting room. It would be helpful if people in the waiting areas were not permitted to play music or content on their phones out loud (very very loud & annoying). They should be required to use headphones or ear buds, especially if they seem to be somewhat deaf. One is anxious enough before surgery or similar procedure.

I always enjoy my visits to Dr. Gaur's office. Everyone is professional, kind and very attentive.
I was recommended a procedure for dry eyes - which is remarkable - however to my dismay it was nearly $3500 and my insurance is questioning payment. I wish it was upfront with the high cost. I should have asked, however, I was swept into the excitement and I did not expect it to cost several thousands dollars.
I hope my insurance covers most of this cost because this will set me back financially. This may not be the proper forum to bring this up and depending on the outcome I will contact the proper channels. I do appreciate the opportunity to express my concerns on this survey.

Dr. Gaur was recommended by my sister, Joyce Whitehead, who stated the services were exceptional. And she was correct. I found the support staff and both doctors extremely knowledgeable and very patient with my questions. My only reservation is that when I met with the team member to possibly schedule cataract surgery, a new recently approved light adjustment procedure -- which was recommended -- had not been priced yet. As the cost would not be covered by insurance, this information would have been very helpful. I am still deciding if that procedure and the accompanying cost (still unknown) and travel required are my best options.

+The staff took excellent care of me because I can see well! From the surgery scheduler that booked my surgery dates and pre-op request to my primary doctor, Alaska Graddy; to Sharron Hickman who explained my medications and provided a detailed table in writing to follow throughout the required time. I called Sharon a number of times and she never sounded too busy to help me with my concerns.
I was very careful to do the eye medication allowing 5 minutes between the different drugs. However, I was surprised that the nurse, Lorraine, did not allow a wait time on the morning of the surgery between drops. Eye drops of medication was entered one after the other no wait period.
It took a while for my husband to come, so I was the last or second to the last to be picked up. The surgery area was empty. He said he came as soon as he was called. The LVN, Janice, I believe mentioned that this was my second time which confused me. I believe the record she was referring was from a glaucoma procedure done at 90210 a earlier period, not cataracts surgery. So I was sure I got a full review of what to do when I got home, but given the folded instructions. Dr. Applegate took care 👍

I was charged the wrong amount for my visit. I told the front desk what the copay should be. They told me I was wrong and that there was a deductible. When I contacted my insurance company, they told me I was correct and had overpaid. I called the billing department to let them know. They said once the insurance company had paid its portion, I would be reimbursed for the overpayment. That still hasn't happened. I get that insurance can be tricky, but I would still like to be reimbursed for my overpayment.

I have the feeling you book too many patients per hour, or per half-day, or per day. That's the only reason I gave a 9 instead of a 10. As far as I can see, you still give each one of us marvelous attention and care.

I am very disappointed with my original surgery counselor and the lack of follow through, lack of contact, and lack of important documents being provided. I had to reach out to Aleasha Grady on several occasions for information due to the lack of communication and information from my counselor - who not only missed an appointment, did not send documents or call as she promised, and then just disappeared without turning over my case to someone else. Thanks goodness Drs Daur and Assil and the surgery center 90210 were so superb.

DEFINITELY, a top doctor who took the time to call me when I had numerous questions post first visit when she also allayed my trepidations about cataract surgery for someone ( like me) with thin corneas... despite my my first visit when i did wait for over an hour in the exam room before i saw the doctor, i chose Dr. Gaur....bec I want the best....Big shoutout to the physicans asst (optomologist??) At my first visit who took measurements; was highly communicative, impressively thorough and also reassuring. . Sorry I forgot his name. Scheduler Nailyn was knee deep in a backup of clients on the day of my first visit, and it did take a week and a half to get to get back to me regarding costs and to schedule a second visit. But she's great at email and followup once she did get back to me. She's now respectful of my time and a joy to talk with.

It is really terrible how long patients have to wait to see the doctors. My last appointment took 15 minutes and I was there for an HOUR AND A HALF. It's not okay. The scheduling system you have set up is not fair to make patients wait so long. How many people do you schedule for the same appointment time? The Beverly Hills office is worse and so I switched to the Santa Monica location several years ago and schedule for immediately after the lunch hour to avoid having to wait. Yet, there I was sitting in the lobby forever. I simply can't take a half day off of work to sit in the lobby for a check up every 6 months. You should take time to figure something better out. It's nuts and frankly, feels discriminatory towards older patients. (I am always the youngest person in the waiting room and I feel like the older patients don't say anything).

I really appreciated my very thorough cataract consultation with Dr. Gaur. She answered my questions about glaucoma and I was happy to hear that I don't have it. She discussed my astigmatism, density of lens and size of pupils. She also explained that my optic nerve was healthy but enlarged in both eyes and would need to be monitored. And she explained her lens choice for me and why it would be better than others. Her assistant (so sorry, I've forgotten her name) was very knowledgeable and helpful and answered more questions and explained the surgery process. They spent a lot of time with me and I felt they were very caring and competent. I'm putting my surgery on hold until Spring when my schedule opens up. Thank you Dr. Gaur and staff!!

I’m told I’m in need of cataract surgery but due to my insurance the lens that are available to me aren’t as effective as ones that would cost me extra $4500 for each eye since my Medicare and Medical Insurance don’t cover the above cost. For this reason I am reluctant to go ahead with the cataract surgery available to me.

I, a retired MD, love your medical care. But you've asked for "anything else", so here is my only criticism, and it has nothing to do with the medical care. It has to do with the waiting time *after* all objective data had been measured but *before* Dr. Sodhi Gaur reached me to render her excellent care. Sitting in the exam room and "waiting for the doctor" a long time suggests that you have overbooked her. Yes, it's *your* administrative fault, not Dr. Sodhi Gaur's medical fault. Of course it's possible that there was one particularly complex patient who took an inordinate amount of time, but the scheduling has to "expect" that to happen. I'm not complaining for myself -- I was happy to wait for her excellent evaluation of the data, further questioning, and superb care -- but something's wrong with "patient flow". Perhaps you need to book 5 patients per hour instead of 6, or 4 patients per hour instead of 5, or 7 patients per hour instead of 8, etc. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.

Long wait for first visit but worth it. Monique was very thorough and professional for the preliminary exam, she then ushered me into another exam room. Quite some time passed because it was a very busy day. Dr. Gaur arrived and was very warm and friendly. She examined my eye and explained that a film had developed and can be easily removed by a procedure called polishing that only takes a few minutes in another room.
I was stunned by the improvement and the technology available at the end of only one visit. I'm anxious for my next appointment to have the other eye done. I am now a permanent and loyal patient of Dr.Gaur.

The doctor was thorough and answered questions. The preop was a mess. Very unorgainzed and failed to call. I had to call for instructions day before procedure. Then received a call at 8:05 am to come in at 8:30 instead of the scheduled time of an hour later. I live 45 minutes away. Need to improve on communication in preop. front desk secretary on 3rd floor rough and rude, her tone is inappropriate at times with all the patients. She may be a geat multi tasker but she is not friendly, kind and professional at all times. It cannot be first time the group has received this feedback, do something before she chase all business away! Wait times are horrible. Every time I've come someone is complaining in the waiting room. It feesl like we're all given same appointment at 1pm. I was in office 2.5 hours my first visit. Get more machines or testing equipment or spread schedule out for consideration of paitnet's time.

Everyone was always very pleasant and professional, and I was given clear written instructions as to my procedural steps along the way towards the surgery date. The only consern that I had was during the 02-24-25 meeting with the Surgery Scheduler/Coordinator when we went through the 90210 Surgery Center 6 pages of paperwork for me to initial and sign. I found page 2 of 6 and 6 of 6 to be contradictive. On page 2 of 6 I never chose near vision after surgery, and Dr. Gaur and I never discussed monovision either that Nailyn circled and cossed off glasses, but she said that I still needed to initial that area. So, since Dr. Guar's name was not on that page as "provided by" I just accepted Nailyn's explanation of monovision that I'd have a different vision in each eye. I asked Nailyn if I could try one of those test contact lenses in the office, not to take home, and she said what I'm getting doesn't qualify for that. On page 6 of 6 Nailyn circled Option 1 - Monofocal IOL/Glasses Option and "left" eye which made sense to me, even though there was no mention of an intermediate lens to be installed which I believed would take me out 20 ft. to beginning distance vision.

Everything having to do with my surgery was excellent. However I was extremely disappointed to receive a bill for $300 weeks later.
I was told I would pay $300 at my pre op appt (which I did on Jan 27th) then the rest on the day of my surgery (which I did on Feb 5th). Then just yesterday I received a bill saying I still owe $300. When I called and spoke to someone they tried to tell me that that $300 was for something else, but when I pressed on they told me I could disregard the bill. For an institution that does these surgeries all day every day I am finding it hard to believe this was a simple mistake. It feels predatory towards those who may not question a bill. Disappointed I had to fight for my money.

However, I was fully charged and it took several calls and weeks to get it remedied. I had to cover it myself on my credit card and a few weeks later recievd a credit on my card. No one seemed to hear my valid concerns about postponing this surgery, which is rife with CERTAIN complications (increased glare/halos/failed night vision). I asked three times to be set up with a regular 3-4 month check up, and was pressured to set a surgery date. No appt would be made. My gonio of 3 did not seem to scream “surgery needed”. On the contrary, especially since I was not given my history or progression of disease.

Within 48 hours, UCLA performed emergency surgery to attach the retina at the Julie Stein Eye Clinic on UCLA campus. Now I have vision in my left eye.

I requested an itemized bill while paying, and was told it would be sent the day after. A few days later I wrote an email to remind them. The secretary/assistant, L. Navarro, stated that billing in in charge. Billing wrote an email asking what I needed on Jan 31, 2025. I explained that they had not sent the itemized bill. It's 10 Feb. and there is no answer. If they cannot provide it, just let me know. Do not promise what you can't deliver. Otherwise, the staff (the day I visited) was pleasant and friendly.

I was impressed with the cleanliness and professionalism. Things were communicated well for the most part. There was a follow up message from an office person that made my decision on surgery sound urgent but I understood from the doctor I had time as I was at risk but not currently showing any symptoms. So the message was a bit confusing. There are studies that show surgery may not be necessary. I would have liked to hear more about that and why the doctor felt I should go ahead with surgery. If I decide on surgery, I would still follow up with this practice.

I always have to wait a very long time for my appointment, sometimes over an hour which is unacceptable. I have learned that it helps to make the appointment first thing in the morning or right after lunch but even then, I usually have to wait. It’s a huge problem for me. Once I’m seen, the technicians are terrific but then, some times after that, I still have to wait for the doctor.

I had my lasik eye surgery some 15 years ago and at least once a week, I still say thank you to Dr. Assil and his staff. When a different reason occurred other than a regular eye exam and I was sent to Dr. Sodhi-Gaur, I went through another very thorough exam and patient explaining to me of what had happened. I'm happy to say that my eyes are still doing great (this coming from someone who had coke bottle lenses in 2nd grade) after all this time. They are my number one referral when it comes to your eyes!

One is that after finishing my left eye the nurse started prepping my left eye again. Two is that my ride found it stressful to wait in the right turn lane on Roxbury while blocking traffic. I am totally pleased with Dr. Gaur's pleasing and professional manner. She's a joy to work with. However, the surgical counselors could up their game in the communication area. Whenever I have an interaction with one of them, they say they will get back to me in a week or so and then I never hear from them again and have to follow up, usually a few times.
