Your services are very professional and comprehensive. All employees are courteous and knowledgeable. My outcome was positive and I'm glad I chose Assill Gaur for this surgery. My only negative comment would be about the horrendously long 90210 Health site questionnaire. IMO, It was needlessly deep with hundreds of questions and took 20-30 minutes to go through with medical questions I've never been asked before (I'm 74). I was not prepared for such an ordeal, and it left me wondering who 90210 Health was or if it was even part of your company! A little heads up it was coming would've been appropriate, as it came out of the blue, and suggested I might not be permitted to continue if I didn't fill it out completely! This is why I gave you a 9.

Doctor Assil did a great job on my Lasik, but there was very little acknowledgement of the fact that I traveled out of state to see him multiple times…consult, procedure and follow up. He was in and out in less than 5 minutes each time. I get that he’s busy—I’m also a physician—but the process just felt very robotic to me. Optometrist popped in at one point and didn’t even introduce herself and just said she’s there to check my eyes. An introduction would’ve been nice. I guess I just expected more given the expense, traveling out of state 3x and the fact that 6 of my family members have been treated by him. Thats why I came, otherwise I would’ve just had it done closer to home. They want me to come back in 3 months to check and then determine if I need a touch up—had the bedside manner been better, I would’ve booked flights right away. Given my experience, there’s no way I’m going to spend hundreds of dollars to fly in, rent a car, and come in only to be seen for 5 minutes.

I think all the options for lenses to put in your eye should be made very clear as far as cost and what the lenses can do by your surgical consultant. Unknown to me my eye doctor of 40 years had written a note suggesting what he felt was best for me - a far view lens and a close up reading lens . The $11,000 close, near and far lenses not covered by medicare were heavily pushed by my first surgical consultant. I asked if medicare covered the toric lens for astigmitism correction. I was simply told no. That is true but I was not told that medicare covers a lot of it with only $1500 left to pay by the patient . She told me unless I ordered the $11,000 lenses I would have to wear glasses after the surgery. I left feeling pretty let down. I called my doctor of 40 years asking what I should do which is when I found out about the note. I was then assigned to a different surgical consultant and we got the correct solution for me and I am very happy with the results. My suggestion is to explain more thoroughly what to expect from the different choices for lenses , the actual cost you will incur especially if Medicare will pay for a lot of it - don't leave out details.

Dr. Assil and his team are the best in the field. I had cataract surgery about 14 years ago by Dr. Assil. I have been under the care of Dr. May ever since. In the past three weeks, I’ve seen Dr. May twice, once for what turns out to be a bad allergy season and most recently for shingles. Dr. May is extremely thorough and kind. He knows all too well my anxiety about my eyesight and is so reassuring and patient in allowing me to ask questions and explaining why he does or does t prescribe or recommend a particular kind of care or treatment. My vision is much better, but I can't drive at night now due to headlight glare & I work evenings so it's a big hinderance to my financials. I am not thrilled after paying close to 15k that my dry eye condition doesn't matter in my healing...meibo $200, IPL $600 per @6 treatments I can't afford. So I am irritated that I'm uncomfortable & dry eyes affect my surgery healing/vision. I thought I'd be cured & taken care of by Total payment, not separate for dry eyes. I am a bit annoyed & would think my eye health included in total payment. The dry eye lens did nothing for me & I still suffer.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the surgical prep team, especially my nurse Lauren for both surgeries and the anesthesiologist Jean! Both are remarkable and made me feel safe in their care. They listened and responded to my concerns. Mostly, about being a "hard stick" and anxiety during surgery. A special shout out to Dr. Lindsay Harris who took extra special care when I couldn't see well out of my right eye and I felt 💯 better when I left my post op. I am grateful to Dr. Assil for problem solving an unforseen injury in my right eye and doubling down for a second surgery to get the lens perfect. I have better vision than when I was 10 years old! Overall, i liked the staff and their professionalism. The only thing I would suggest is the wait time between seeing the technician's exams. It seemed like I had to wait a long time between each visit including the doctor. I guess if I was told that it would be say 10 or 15 minutes before someone would come in it would have been better. other than that I was very happy with the procedure and the results and the follow up visit was just terrific. So thanks to the doctor and the staff for making my eyesight normal.

Concerns about the following: 1. The short period of time in going without wearing hard contacts to schedule the first eye cataract surgery, and only two days before proceeding with the second surgery; other sources recommend not wearing hard contacts for a month before undergoing surgery and lubricating eyes 6-8x a day during the month. 2. More explanation about the the temporary management of high blood pressure immediately before cataract surgery, if patient is not taking blood pressure medicine. 3. After lens measurements, etc., discovering that most of the costs would be out-of-pocket, if surgery includes astigmatism correction for both eyes, which is my case. 4. Determining the best procedure when there are many options that appear to be complicated towards making the right decision. 5. What to do in between surgeries in terms of reading and driving, if one eye has undergone surgery and the other eye is scheduled afterwards, if there are no complications.

I have been going to Dr. Gaur for many years. She is my primary eye doctor. When I finally needed cataract surgery, I knew that she would do a great job. And, she did! I had both eyes done on the same day. Dr. Gaur gave me high quality multi focal lenses. This is what I requested. I wanted to be able to see distance clearly as well as read small print up close. I got the Johnson & Johnson DRT 150 lenses to be exact. She does the procedure at the 90210 surgery Center. Everyone at the surgery center was great! So helpful, professional and kind. The staff really made going through the whole procedure much more comforting and easy. The surgery itself was painless and it only took 30 minutes per eye. If you do need cataract surgery, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Gaur as your eye surgeon. She’s the best!

I was told about my amounts due at the time of my procedure, but was not told how it was going to be distributed, as it was a surprise when it was charged the day before my surgery, and it made me concerned, and I was thinking my money was being sent to businesses I was not aware of. Paperwork from my regular doctor was not sent over prior to my procedure, leading to day-of scrambling and someone from my family physically needing to drive to my doctor's office to have it sent over. This seems like an easy step that both sides missed and should already be built into pre-surgery checks at the Assil office! Also, my prescriptions were not sent to the pharmacy until the day before I needed to start taking them which created last-minute stress. Regarding pre-surgery paperwork, adding the generic medication names to the list of eye drops (in addition to the brand names) would be helpful to avoid confusion.

Dr Assil told me zero of his patients have halos 1 year after cataract surgery. Zero. That is the reason I chose to go with him. But it is 1 year after surgery and I still have halos. Last visit he told me it can take longer if only one eye is done. I wish he’d told me that before surgery. So he said give it 6 more months. I really hope he’s right and not just pushing me off as his demeanor was not as friendly or interested in my case at our last appointment. Maybe he was having an off day. 🙏

You get there on time then sit around for 45 mins to an hour before they even take you. Then you have to go through each step with each person. From the moment I walked in for my consultation just a week ago, the staff was welcoming, professional, and made me feel completely at ease. They were incredibly accommodating — scheduling my surgery within the same week and even coordinating my post-op appointment before I left the consultation. The day before surgery, I received a thoughtful follow-up call which reinforced how on top of everything they were. On the day of the procedure, the entire experience was smooth and efficient — I was in and out in under 2.5 hours, with the actual surgery lasting just around 10 minutes. Most of the time was spent on thorough pre- and post-op testing, which gave me confidence they weren’t rushing any part of the process. The best part? I walked out being able to see. Dr. Lindsay Harris is a true gift to the world and I am so very thankful for how she has helped me and my vision when nobody else has in the last 20 years. I have always had what I have been told to be 20/20 vision. Despite the blurry vision and headaches I would get daily.. I have been told on a yearly basis by various optometrists that my vision was “perfect.” I would complain to them about my blurry tired eyes, I would explain the headaches I would get regularly, and every year at my yearly eye check up, every optometrist always told me that it must be because I am “on my phone too much” and to stop screen time and it will fix the issue. It never fixed the issue. Then a few months ago I was lucky enough to get connected with Dr. Lindsay Harris, and within the first ten minutes of my appointment, she was able to diagnose me with two conditions, one that could have potentially made me go blind, and the other condition that with the proper prescription, completely changed my vision. Dr. Harris is in the upper echelon of optometrists, she sets the bar far above anyone else in her field, but her talent as an eye doctor is only trumped by the size of her heart and how she truly so clearly cares for her patients. I am so thankful to be in Dr. Lindsay Harris’s care. She goes above and beyond to provide the most professional and empathetic care for her patients and anyone who has the chance to have her as their optometrist is so very lucky and blessed, and that feels like a colossal understatement. Everyone (staff/nurses/Dr. Assil) was attentive and communicative throughout the process all the way back to when I emailed the office a year ago to inquire about the procedure (nevus removal), when I sent follow up emails this year, and during my consultation and procedure. My critiques are: in the spirit of the office making time for me to have the procedure right after my consultation (which I greatly appreciated), there was a bit of rushing around, and I wasn't given the consent form for the procedure until after the procedure was completed. Additionally, I would've liked to have known about the post-op instructions in advance so that I could've planned my life/schedule better following the procedure. Also, I wasn't provided eye shields for sleeping (which are listed in the post-op instructions). I did have a great follow up call with Dr. Natalie Sarukhanian to make sure the symptoms I was experiencing post-op were normal. She assured me that they were, listened to my concerns, and provided recs for additional eye drops (for dryness) and helpful tips for a smooth recovery and an additional follow up, if needed. I thought the surgery went very well. The pre op RNs and anesthesiologists/CRNA were so good both days as well as post op. The only suggestion I would have for this team is possibly have a RN to follow up and review sequencing for POST OP eye drops The paper was a bit confusing and hand written in dates ended 4/26 The other print out for pre and post op eye drops was confusing I did phone in BEFORE my 5/12 visit with some issues and no one clarified the frequency of the prednisone drops. I think a call Post operatively from A RN, not a counselor to ensure patients are following the eyedrop sequence would be good If I had gotten this clarification when I called the previous week or so, it would have been great. A re assessment to see how patients are doing it giving the nurse the opportunity to correct any misunderstanding Thanks so much !

Dr Assil and his staff provide an exceptional experience. Having surgery on my eye was something that I was anxious about. From the moment I walked into his Santa Monica facility my anxiety was diminished. Professionalism was evident everywhere. The facility, equipment, clinicians, and reception exceeded my expectations. When I met with Dr. Assil, I had no reservations about continuing with him. I was looking to take care of the cataracts in my eyes. However, he informed me that I could also have a lens which would improve my vision as well. There was never any pressure to proceed, but I knew I wanted him to do the procedure. Before, I had a restricted driver's license and relied on reading glasses (which were always never convenient). After having both eyes done, I have 20/20 vision and I can read anything without reading glasses. I can tell you that not having to always look for glasses has improved the quality of life more than I expected. I have no reservation recommending Dr. Assil and his team to anyone. Not only have they brightened the world around me, but allow me to see it clearly as well. At 72, I can now look forward to seeing clearly, which is one less worry to deal with during my declining years. Thank you Dr. Assil

I had a very positive experience. Since I’m a very busy person I was impressed how rapidly it all came together. Monday my first visit and meeting with Dr Assil and we immediately determined having the cataract surgery on both eyes. An hour later I had surgery scheduled the same Friday. Next day on Tuesday we did preop. All questions were well answered as I wanted to know exactly what would happen during surgery including what I would see and hear and feel. This enabled me to be a participating part of the team during the surgery which was very smooth. Post surgery I had nothing of concern happening and all was well. I got a whole new life where all of a sudden I could see clearly and sharp. I now have 4-color vision and the world looks bright and clear. I had not known my vision was so poor until I could see again. I can night drive. Oncoming car lights don’t bother me. I have my depth perception back. I can walk down stairs again without the feeling of falling and needing to hold a railing. Wow. My life is back!! I would recommend you to anyone and have already done so. Best of all. No more glasses. I can see better than I have in decades. Thank you all.

I was originally really nervous about getting Lasik but both Dr. Assil, Dr. Natalie S, and the rest of the staff did an amazing job explaining any questions I had and reassuring me. Only 2 complaints I have is that I had to wait a while after checking in and the fact that they don’t have a closer location to my house (however, the drive was very worth it). 10/10 would recommend it.

difficult to assign the correct number of stars. Dr. Gaur seems to be an excellent doctor and is taking care of my glaucoma. staff is great and helpful. but i just called to get my records asking for them to be sent to me rather than another doc. To email the records to me, there is a $50 charge while it's free to send to another doc. No idea why? seems like a penalty to have my own records sent to myself. even stranger they will have to fax them to the new provider which takes more time, and they can easily email them to me. weird but true. I give stars for making my life easier.
