Dry Eye Treatment

Assil Eye Institute is excited to share the latest advances in dry eye and chronic blepharitis and meibomitis therapy. In addition to DELIT therapy, we also now offer the uniquely advanced formulated organic eye drops (Oculocin)developed in Europe. The drop formulation contains multiple familiar ingredients, like; Aloe Vera, Chamomile, and Propolis.

The drop was developed by Algirdas Zukauskas a biochemist, inspired by his Ophthalmologist mother’s account of how many patients suffer from dry eye and eyelid irritation. He turned to natural ingredients that have helped people for centuries for inflammatory and infectious diseases. Dry Eye, blepharitis, and skin diseases all have components of inflammation and bacterial infection.

  • Aloe Vera has long been used in traditional medicine to soothe inflamed skin, as a natural humectant (drawing moisture to the applied area). Patients have told us that the this new advancement has helped relieve their irritated eyes and lid margins.
  • A second component is Chamomile, which is the common name for several daisy-like plants that have been used for herbal infusions and teas. Chamomile contains anti-bacterial compounds like bisabolol, flavonoids, and terpenoids. Some of these compounds are also anti-inflammatory. One of these anti-inflammatory compounds is apigenin, which has also been shown to help nerves.
  • This new drop is also made up in part by a resin extract (Propolis) found in plants. Bees take this resin from plants and use it to coat their hives. Its antibacterial and anti fungal properties that protect plants, bee hives and now humans as well. The propolis could have two positive effects on the skin and eyes, helping to both fight lid infection and also coating the ocular surface. We are pleased to have been asked to serve as Los Angeles County’s exclusive provider of this highly beneficial Dry eye therapy, which improves a variety of Dry eye problem.
