The physicians at Assil Gaur Eye Institute are dedicated to bringing innovative technology to our patients through clinical research and trials. These trials involve investigating leading-edge ophthalmic care, products, and devices.
Our clinical trials are carefully controlled research studies that gather scientific evidence to improve the ways we prevent, diagnose, or treat specific eye conditions. Each clinical study is led by one of our trusted medical doctors and our professional research team.
Many patients who have taken part in our clinical research trials have been helped as a result of having access to state-of-the-art care they otherwise would not have had. The first people to have been helped by medication or a medical device are often those who were part of its clinical trials.
It is exciting to offer the ARTISAN® IOL to those patients who have a visually significant cataract, are aphakic or pseudophakic, and have compromised ocular anatomy that prohibits implantation of a standard posterior chamber IOL.
The design of the ARTISAN lens is unique since it can be attached in front of the iris and does not require an intact or structurally sound capsular bag. While most patients will not qualify for this study as they will not need this specially designed lens, the Assil Gaur Eye Institute is fortunate to be one of just two study sites in California allowed to provide this as a potential solution for those patients where this is a beneficial option.
