What is a Pterygium?

A pterygium is a non-cancerous growth that forms on the clear, thin tissue (conjunctiva) over the white part of your eye. Often appearing as an unattractive pink, fleshy tissue, it's usually harmless but can cause discomfort or vision problems if it grows large. It is treated either by eyedrops, and if that does not resolve the issue, then surgery.
