Everything about Assil Gaur Eye Institute is a class act. First, let me commend the skill and expertise of Dr.Assil. I had had RK in the 80’s and now was in need of cataract surgery. Jules Stein Eye Institute said I was not a candidate for multi focal lenses and could only opt for mono focal and dependence on glasses. Feeling very discouraged, I immediately started researching the issue and I found Dr.Assil - one of the few surgeons nationwide with the skill and experience to handle multi focal lenses post RK.

Of course, I now had a NO from Jules Stein Eye Institute and a YES from Dr.Assil so I needed a third opinion to make a truly informed decision. That’s when I was referred to Dr. Nadji who said that while he personally did not have the experience to give me multi focal lenses, he knew Dr. Assil was THE CHOICE to make. And a great choice it has been.

The whole process was pain free and I am seeing both near and far just great - no glasses needed here!
In addition to being gifted as a surgeon, Dr. Assil is extremely warm and personable and you know he listens and cares.

In all, whatever your eye issue may be, do be certain you consult with Dr. Kerry Assil for a top of the line opinion and the best treatment available anywhere!

I came here for lasik and had an amazing experience. Dr. Sodhi Gaur Took great care of my me and explained every step of the process to me. It can feel overwhelming with all of the eye exams but Dr.Gaur keeps you informed about everything which is really helpful. The entire staff was very helpful and kind. The surgery itself was short (around 10-15 mins) but the machine that prevents your eyes from blinking can feel painful due to pressure of the suction. Aside from that, the surgery is straight forward and quick. I received thorough instructions on my post op care. The staff actually care about their patients and you feel well taken care of. Going through with lasik is a scary process, but Assil Eye institute goes above and beyond in making it a seamless experience.

I don't know how they decide which doctor is going to work with you but.......there could not have been a better doctor for me than Dr. Gaur.
Aaron was my first contact. He did all my preliminary tests. He is wonderful. At the end of the visit I told him I was going to go to two other practices to compare. I expected some kind of sell from him so I would choose Assil. Instead he said to me, "I'm going to talk to you like you were my brother. Go with the doctor you feel most comfortable. Go with your gut."

Dr. Assil is my hero! He saved me after complications from a Lasik procedure in which one of my eyes developed "epithelial ingrowth", meaning sudden cell growth started to block my vision, which my original eye surgeon informed me might lead to needing a corneal transplant. Scary stuff. A friend, another eye surgeon (at Kaiser), recommended that I immediately seek out a second opinion from Dr. Assil. As soon as I walked into his office, I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Assil has a bevy of staff, all super efficient and knowledgeable. They have a checks and balance system so that nothing slips through the cracks. Under the care of Dr. Assil and his staff, who performed an "epithelial sweep", I now have perfect vision. I am forever grateful to Assil Gaur Eye Institute and recommend any and all to go to him as the first opinion!
