Dr Assil and his staff provide an exceptional experience. Having surgery on my eye was something that I was anxious about. From the moment I walked into his Santa Monica facility my anxiety was diminished. Professionalism was evident everywhere. The facility, equipment, clinicians, and reception exceeded my expectations. When I met with Dr. Assil, I had no reservations about continuing with him. I was looking to take care of the cataracts in my eyes. However, he informed me that I could also have a lens which would improve my vision as well. There was never any pressure to proceed, but I knew I wanted him to do the procedure. Before, I had a restricted driver's license and relied on reading glasses (which were always never convenient). After having both eyes done, I have 20/20 vision and I can read anything without reading glasses. I can tell you that not having to always look for glasses has improved the quality of life more than I expected. I have no reservation recommending Dr. Assil and his team to anyone. Not only have they brightened the world around me, but allow me to see it clearly as well. At 72, I can now look forward to seeing clearly, which is one less worry to deal with during my declining years. Thank you Dr. Assil

difficult to assign the correct number of stars. Dr. Gaur seems to be an excellent doctor and is taking care of my glaucoma. staff is great and helpful. but i just called to get my records asking for them to be sent to me rather than another doc. To email the records to me, there is a $50 charge while it's free to send to another doc. No idea why? seems like a penalty to have my own records sent to myself. even stranger they will have to fax them to the new provider which takes more time, and they can easily email them to me. weird but true. I give stars for making my life easier.

I can also get my vision check there by Dr. May. It's almost a one stop office for your eyes. (I purchase the prescription glasses from Costco at an affordable price.)

If I could give Dr. Gaur 100 stars out of 5, it still wouldn’t properly reflect the incredible care that this special doctor provides to her patients. From the moment Dr. Gaur walks into the room, you can feel her warmth and compassion, which is equally met by her expertise, profound professionalism, and exceptional care that is unrivaled by anyone in her area of practice. To say she is a special doctor would not be giving her the credit she so clearly deserves. She takes her time with each patient, never makes you feel rushed or like you are an inconvenience, she gives you a safe space to discuss your questions, needs and concerns, she provides extensive insight on whatever is needed for your most optimal care, she has endless compassion and empathy, and the bonus is that she always has a welcoming smile on her face. She is a doctor you can trust with anything you need, if she tells you it's needed or in your best interest, you don't need to bother getting a second opinion, you can trust wholeheartedly that she has the best interest and care of her patients in her heart. Dr. Gaur is one of those doctors whom you can tell was born to do exactly what she is doing as a medical professional, which is why she stands out so much amongst any and all doctors, not only in her field of practice, but in all patient care in general. There aren't enough positive words I could say about this doctor. If you are looking for someone whose first-class knowledge as a physician is only outshined by the size of her compassion and kindness, then Dr. Gaur is your doctor for any and all ophthalmology needs. I'm so thankful beyond measure for everything she has done for me and continues to do for me, and if you choose her as your eye doctor you will be thankful too!

The medical assistant is the one who deserved 10 stars. The doctor told me I need Cataract surgery. I believed her but I need a second opinion. The front desk is a little pushy. She wanted to charge my deductible upfront without giving me any detailed information about costs. After I insisted, someone inside came with a phone number for me to call and ask about costs. I have an appointment with my former ophthalmologist and if it's really necessary to do it right away, I will get back to her.

The waiting to be seen was not long. The clinic is very clean. The staff that helped me with the exam was very efficient and caring. The doctor explained the procedures clearly. If you missed anything, the appointment setter can explain it again if you ask the appropriate questions, The only thing, that kept me from giving a 10 is the price, also that I had to pay for parking.

Everything was good, except for one thing. When my eyes were dilated, no one told me that it would be so bright outside afterwards. I could barely keep my eyes open when the sun came out. If I had known about it ahead of time, that they were going to dilate my eyes, I would have brought my sunglasses.

I've had both my cataract surgery and now both an upper and lower blepharoplasty (eyelid) surgery at Assil Guar and can highly recommend them for both. Dr. Assil did my cataract surgery and Dr. Adelah recently did the eyelid surgery. I'm still healing, but her attention to detail is amazing and the staff at both the Beverly Hills and Santa Monica offices are very caring and helpful!

Assil Gaur eye clinic was amazing!! I found out I had a hole in my retina from a regular eye check up and was referred to Assil. I called that same day and Assil fit me in immediately, due to a flight we were taking overseas in a few days. After checking my eye, they fixed my eye so I’d have no fear of more tearing . Honestly it felt amazing to be in the hands of competent caring people. Most places would’ve said we’re booked up, you’ll have to come see us when you get back. They were fully booked that day , but saw the urgency of what needed to be done and made it happen. Can’t recommend Assil Gaur enough.

I'm deeply grateful to Dr. Gaur for helping me save my vision with the two LPI procedures and also for treating my chronic dry eye condition with the inserted plugs. No other ophthalmologist or optometrist over the last 10 years has ever addressed this. I will still need observation re my narrow angle situation; therefore I will probably get implants to resolve this condition and restore excellent vision without glasses, sometime in the near future.

BEST doctors and an amazing team I had blood vessels in my right eye because I use a machine called Lifetrons it’s a high frequency for a facelift! I thought I had left a review a 1.5 yr ago. Regardless, Dr Assil is a god or has the hands of a god!!! I had PRK about 15yrs ago in New York. I went for the consultation and Dr. Assil told me he would only do surgery on one eye (best option for my health). He could have done what the Dr in New York did (take my $$ and not look out for my health) nothing compared to the surgery 15yrs ago. My night vision even only having one eye operated is crystal clear, day vision I can see miles away. I’m so happy I went to Dr Assil. The level of care also gave me peace of mind. He wanted to see me almost every day post surgery which not many drs do.

I absolutely loved my experience and love my vision. I got lasik in Feb 2020 right before finishing nursing school. I am so happy to be able to go to work without glasses and ride my bike without worrying about my contact popping out. And soon to be a mother waking up at all hours taking care of baby. Now going towards three years after my surgery I use eye drops once or twice a week. Usually when its dry or I travel somewhere dry. I love my eyes and I am so happy with my vision. These folks are simply the best. Dr. Gaur is tops in her field anywhere with glaucoma (she's fixed both of my eyes) and Dr. Pilyugina removed a membrane inside an eye that restored my focus and clarity. Together they diagnosed the problems immediately and corrected them swiftly. They and the entire staff have terrific bedside manners. One more thing: Dr. Assil personally took an interest in a vision-threatening problem suffered by one of my sister-in-laws. Her doctors had told her there was nothing more they could do to restore her vision. Dr. Assil saw that as a challenge and dove into the problem. After a few months, she regained full use of the eye.

Everything about Assil Gaur Eye Institute is a class act. First, let me commend the skill and expertise of Dr.Assil. I had had RK in the 80’s and now was in need of cataract surgery. Jules Stein Eye Institute said I was not a candidate for multi focal lenses and could only opt for mono focal and dependence on glasses. Feeling very discouraged, I immediately started researching the issue and I found Dr.Assil - one of the few surgeons nationwide with the skill and experience to handle multi focal lenses post RK. Of course, I now had a NO from Jules Stein Eye Institute and a YES from Dr.Assil so I needed a third opinion to make a truly informed decision. That’s when I was referred to Dr. Nadji who said that while he personally did not have the experience to give me multi focal lenses, he knew Dr. Assil was THE CHOICE to make. And a great choice it has been. The whole process was pain free and I am seeing both near and far just great - no glasses needed here! In addition to being gifted as a surgeon, Dr. Assil is extremely warm and personable and you know he listens and cares. In all, whatever your eye issue may be, do be certain you consult with Dr. Kerry Assil for a top of the line opinion and the best treatment available anywhere!

I had cataract surgery at the Assil Gaur Eye Institute back in August of 2018, since then Dr.Assil and his amazing staff have taken every step possible which has allowed me to attain perfect vision with my new progressive lens glasses. Was originally diagnosed with glaucoma in left eye in 2017 -- due to over use of cortico-steroids (CS) (flonase). I Stopped all use CS, yet, optical nerve damage continued. Had an MRI performed -- it indicated macro adenoma of the hypophysis -- clearly, and MRI earlier would have been desirable.

In 2001 I moved from Los Angeles to Oregon and met my wife in 2002. In 2003 Dr. Assil performed Lasik on her eyes. My recent appointment was a medical emergency (i.e., suspected detached retina). I was able to schedule a same day appointment within a few hours of my calling. Dr. Gaur and the team very efficiently ran the tests and confirmed the diagnosis that it was indeed a detached retina. She then arranged for me to see a retina specialist surgeon that very same afternoon. Thankfully, he was able to perform the necessary surgery that day. Due to the early detection and intervention, the surgery was less involved than had there been delays, the prognosis was better. and the recovery time was also much shorter than it might have been. Kudos to Dr. Gaur and Assil Gaur Eye Institute!

In all the years I have been a patient with the Assil Gaur Eye Institute, 2 fabulous LASIK surgeries and years of annual visits, I feel like I have been blessed to know such nice and wonderful staff and doctors at the Assil Institute. I am a little partial to the SM office for its convenience & my first LASIK surgery w/Dr Assil. Everyone in the SM office and the staff in BH office have been truly wonderful. From Dr Y, who gave me the news that I needed to have a touch up LASIK to Dr Vogel who took such great care of my allergy dry eyes during summers, both of whom I will miss very much. Dr Mayes taking me thru my second LASIK in BH with Dr Assil and now returning to SM office. That said, I feel confident my eye health will continue to be in good hands. Thank you Dr Assil for keeping your Santa Monica office open and staffed with such wonderful doctors & assistants over the years! And thank you for doing both my LASIK surgeries, turns out the second surgery was even better than my first. I am so grateful to have both distance & reading eyes without use of any glasses or contact lenses.
